Airline Tickets

Today I want to talk about airline tickets. There are many websites out there that say they will give you the lowest price on tickets. Don't believe them. In my research to find the lowest price on tickets, I tried them all, from Priceline to Hotwire and beyond.

Now don't get me wrong, these sites are of immense value to the would be traveler. I used them to get an average price then went from there.
When I tried Priceline, I got down to a price that was just above what I wanted to pay then tried their name your own price option. They say you can get HUGE discounts by naming your own price. I have found that to be a lie.

My travel group is made up of three people, my brother, a friend and myself. I was trying to get a good deal for all three of us. My final price? $1,300. How did I get it? You may be surprised to know I went directly to the airline. Crazy huh? With all the time I spent on these so called discount websites, I got the best deal dealing directly with Air Italia. What I am trying to say is, "Shop around".

If you do go through a discount site, I have found out the best days to search are weekdays. Also try and schedule your travel on a Thursday. It seems Thursdays are the cheapest days to travel.
Another great way to make your tickets cheaper is to travel in the off season. We are going to Amsterdam in January, the coldest time of year in Holland. So you might not get to experience a canal boat trip, but you wont wait in huge lines at the museums and the coffee shops wont be as crowded.

Now I just need to work out where we are going to stay.

Sponsors Needed

While we are trying to do this trip on a shoestring budget, we would love some huge corporation to step in and give us a little help. What we are looking for is a cool houseboat in Amsterdam that could be donated for 13 days in January, specifically the 5th-18th.

Another thing we need is a good laptop. Something we could edit all the video we make on the fly. If we don't get one, we will have to wait until we return to edit everything and that would suck.

Until next time.
